Féile na Laoch – Highlights

Well anyone that was in Cuil Aodha for the weekend of Féile na Laoch will know I'm not exaggerating when i say it was one of the most unique and epic festivals of the year. This highlights package  should give you a good idea of how the festival weekend went and especially the mammoth outdoor concert/gathering that ran from Sunday night 21:00 to Monday morning 07:00.

Expect to see more footage of individual performances over the next few weeks over on the Féile na Laoch site.

Féile na Laoch (The Festival of Heroes) Launch

Féile na Laoch (The Festival of Heroes) is being officially launched this Thursday @ The Abbey Theater. Ceoltóirí Chualann will be performing live at the launch so the tunes will be good no matter what. Details Below:

We are organising a major festival to mark the life and work of Seán Ó Riada and other heroes in Cúil Aodha on the August Bank Holiday weekend, 29th July-1 August.   On Thursday next, in the bar area of the Abbey Theatre, we will be hosting a press launch to inform the public of the programme and to afford the media an opportunity to interview festival director, Peadar Ó Riada, and others associated with the event.

All publicity for this festival is appreciated.  Most of the events are free - apart from two late night céilis in a local venue on Friday and Saturday night - and all the participants are giving their time free to the event in an effort to rekindle a spirit of self reliance in these difficult times.   It is also their way of paying homage to Ó Riada, a cultural pioneer and hero.

Event:  Press Launch 'Féile na Laoch'
Time:  11 am.
Date: 21 July 2011
Venue, Bar area, Abbey Theatre, Dublin

Ó Riada & Ceoltoiri Chualann Tour 2010

In 2010 Ceoltoiri Chualann reformed under the leadership of Peadar O'Riada to play a number of tribute concerts to Sean O'Riada. I myself had the privilege to tag along as a member of Cór Chúil Aodha and took the opportunity to document this historic tour whenever i could. I've finally got around to putting a site together to host all the vids and pics i took on that tour and will be updating it over time as there's quite a bit of content to get through.
